Kara put the phone down and breathed a sigh of relief. She had just phoned Vicky to break the news that she was not going to be going out with the girls that evening. Kara was pleased that she could spend the evening relaxing without having to worry about mingling with friends as a group whom she felt she had nothing in common with nowadays. Instead, she could occupy herself with her favourite past times, painting and going on the Internet. Kara loaded up her MSN messenger, and saw that her two best online friends, Jim & Tracy were there. She couldn't wait to chat with them again, and she had so much more common ground with Jim and Tracy nowadays than most of her friends where she lived. Kara and Tracy liked to hang out on "Live Journal" so they both posted some comments on various journals. Kara had some mild flirtation with Jim and she giggled loudly at his messages as they appeared on her screen . She pumped up her stereo loud to her favourite rock classics, and wondered how the night out was going.

All of a sudden, Kara received an MSN message from a guy called Ricky who lived in the same town. Kara couldn't believe it. She wasn't totally sure if she wanted to make contact with a person who lived so close on the net - but he seemed really nice, genuine and an interesting person.
