Kara was glad to have decided to wait a while before she and Ricky met. Okay, so she may think he's her soulmate, but if he is, then he'll still be around in a few weeks, and will understand her reasons for wanting to wait until she has got to know him better until they meet "in the flesh" as it were.

The following afternoon, Kara decided to take the offer up of a walk with her parents. It was good exercise after all. She walked past the pub that she and Ricky would have met at that afternoon if she had felt it right to meet him so soon. Kara enjoyed a good chat with her parents. It had been a while since they had done anything together as a family. Kara bought herself a ticket to play the lottery, something that she hadn't participated in for ages. They made their way home to relax.

That evening, Kara gasped as each of the balls that came out during the lottery, matched her ticket.

"I've won. I have won the lottery," screamed Kara with disbelief. She had to pinch herself to make sure that she was not dreaming!! It sure was real, though.

All of her family and Vicky were gathered at the house to celebrate her win of just over a million. Kara could not believe that something so fortunate could occur for her. She decided that she just had to get online to tell Ricky! He was there, yet disappeared when she went online. Kara had this awful feeling that he was avoiding her so she emailed him.

Later Ricky replied and apologised. He sent Kara a message saying he cared about her so much, but his ex girlfriend had asked him to try again with their relationship tonight - he had said "yes" as he couldn't face breaking up for good. They had been together 3 years, and although he thinks Kara is right for him, he had actually not met her, so he felt it was far safer to go back to his long term relationship that was rocky and less than perfect, than to risk his security to begin a new one with Kara. Kara realised that if she had have met him when she was given the choice sooner, then they might have had a chance together.

"By the way, I've just won a million on the lottery" she informed him ..
